Autumn is the perfect season to refresh your home with a delightful new colour scheme that evokes calm and cosiness. Surround yourself with luxurious paints and wallpapers that will soothe your senses and bring a true sense of comfort to your living space.

Be inspired by this gallery of inviting autumnal schemes, from cosy kitchen-dining spaces, to cocooning living rooms and seasonal front doors…

Cosy, warm neutral kitchens

Your kitchen is the heart of the home, so it’s the perfect place to start as you seek to invite cosiness into your home over autumn and winter. Introduce a palette of comforting warm neutrals to create a welcoming setting where your friends and family can gather round. Richly coloured hues like soft golden browns and gentle pink-neutrals used all over will fill the space with a warm, homely atmosphere.

Our ‘Sweet Treats’ palette presents a selection of tempting neutrals that work wonderfully in an inviting kitchen scheme. @theresa_gromski combined deep caramel, Affogato, with soft muted pink, Mochi, on the walls, ceiling and panelling of her kitchen-dining space. These autumnal hues coordinate beautifully with natural wood finishes and greenery for a tranquil feel.

Kitchens often feature lots of hard surfaces, so consider introducing a textural element with the use of wallpaper. The warm honey-toned Ditsy Block – Bombolone is a charming paper for your kitchen or dining space, making the whole space feel very soft, intimate and cosy. @ninageeathome incorporated this design into her kitchen, alongside Galette on cabinetry and Julie’s Dream on the walls. She painted the ceiling in the warm white, Flint, to achieve a gentle, harmonious finish.

A tranquil dark living room

As the nights draw in, this season provides the ideal opportunity to introduce darker paint colours into your schemes. Don’t be afraid to embrace deep, sumptuous hues all-over to create an immersive, atmospheric space that truly envelops you – the ultimate sanctuary for the colder months. @vita_nova_house used Lamp Black on the walls and woodwork of her living space. While this shade is certainly impactful, it has underlying warmth and achieves a peaceful, soothing ambience.

An inviting autumn entrance

At this time of year, many of us are preparing to host family and friends in our homes over the coming months. When planning your autumn refresh projects, consider updating your home exterior to create an entrance that welcomes guests inside. A timeless dusky blue, Celestial Blue provides a joyous backdrop to inviting seasonal decorations in this scheme from @ourhoppyhouse.

A timeless wallpapered bedroom

As we spend more time indoors, many of us are longing to create connection with the natural world in our homes. An inspiring botanical wallpaper like Great Ormond St will transport any room to a tranquil setting filled with luscious greenery and exotic birds. @emilytaberenerhome has featured Great Ormond St - Signature in her bedroom to benefit from the calming effects of nature and produce a restful environment.
